Overview

This collection includes the financial accounts of A. B. Clark, editor and publisher of Silver Plume's newspaper The Silver Standard from 1891 to 1907. Most of the accounts highlight the payments made to advertise or publish in the paper.

Biographical / Historical

A. B. Clark was born around 1854 in Illinois. He came to Silver Plume in the 1880s, originally to get into mining. However, in Janurary, 1891, he became the editor and publisher of the Silver Standard, a newspaper in Silver Plume. He continued in this role until December, 1907, when the last issue was produced. That month, Clark had been bedridden with a serious illness, canceling the paper due to his health. Recovering, he eventually relocated to Georgetown, serving as the clerk to the district court. He died in Denver in 1918.

Arrangement

Loose papers were kept in their original locations in the record book, as they were filed alphabetically and with similar material in the book.
