Biographical / Historical
Henry Boyer was born in Maryland in 1832. After serving for three years in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, he relocated to Georgetown in 1864 and established a furniture business. He also served as the city undertaker, keeping detailed records of funerals and burials in Georgetown between 1874 and 1913 (the record book that makes up this collection is the second of two books). Between 1893 and 1901, Boyer was elected multiple times to the position of County Coroner, and in 1903 was elected police judge and mayor of Georgetown. He died in California in 1925.
