Biographical / Historical

In Colorado, Justices of the Peace dealt with lesser offenses, low monetary court cases, and marriages. Between 1876 and 1880, Clear Creek County was divided into 4 precincts, each with at least two justices of the peace. In 1880, the county was divided into 5 precincts. By 1900, there were 7 different precincts, each with justices of the peace.
